MPD Investigating Fatal Traffic Crash Involving Pedestrian

MONTGOMERY — The Montgomery Police Department is investigating a motor vehicle crash that resulted in one pedestrian fatality.

On Monday, July 29, 2019 at about 6:49 p.m., Montgomery Police and Fire Medics responded to I-85 northbound at Forest Avenue in reference to a two vehicle crash involving a 2013 BMW X1 and a 2015 Ford F-650 resulting in a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. The pedestrian, Richard Wilson, 53, of Millbrook sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment before being transported to UAB in Birmingham. On Aug. 22, 2019 Wilson was pronounced dead as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the BMW was not injured. Wilson was the driver of the Ford; however he was not occupying the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The investigation into this fatal crash is ongoing, and no further information is available for release at this time.
