Montgomery Police Charge Adult Male In Early Morning Shooting Death of Child

The Montgomery Police Department has arrested an adult male in the death of Omarion Greenhouse, 7, who sustained a fatal gunshot wound at his home overnight.

MPD charged Willie Sankey, 32, with capital murder in the child’s death and transported him to the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where he was being held without bond.

Police and Fire Medics responded to the 000 block of Coronet Drive at about 12:45 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, after receiving a report of a subject who had been shot. There, they located the victim, who had sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was transported to Baptist Medical Center South, where he was pronounced dead.

MPD’s investigation determined that the child had awakened overnight and gotten out of bed, startling the suspect, Sankey, who had been asleep on the living room couch. The suspect then discharged a weapon at the victim, fatally wounding him.

No additional information is available for release in connection to this continuing investigation.

Note: A criminal charge is an accusation. The defendant is assumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
