Montgomery County, Ala. – Montgomery County District Attorney Daryl Bailey announced today that Montgomery Police Department Detective Anthony Shannon is the recipient of the March “Officer of the Month Award.” The program was created to acknowledge the outstanding work of state, county and city law enforcement officers throughout the criminal court process.
Officers are nominated by MCDA Office staff, and the recipient is selected by a cross-departmental committee. Det. Shannon’s nominators praised him for professionalism, thoroughness and willingness to go the extra mile:
“Detective Shannon never fails to go the extra mile in helping the Victim Service Officers locate and contact the next of kin on a homicide investigation. He promptly returns emails and phone calls even if he is not the case agent. His investigations and case files are well put together, and our prosecutors always have 100 percent confidence in Det. Shannon when he is called upon to testify as the investigating officer in a case. Most importantly, he treats everyone – victims, their families, and our staff – with respect. Every person matters to him.”
District Attorney Daryl Bailey said while the men and women in law enforcement do not look for accolades for doing their jobs, his office believes it is important to recognize these public servants for their exceptional service and the crucial role they play in keeping our community safe.
“Detective Shannon is a fine example of the extraordinary services our law enforcement community provides and the sacrifices they make on behalf of our city,” District Attorney Bailey said. “We are pleased to recognize him as of our March Officer of the Month and thank him for his selfless dedication to his job and the citizens of Montgomery.”
