Faulkner sweeps Stillman in extended-inning showdowns

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Faulkner (4-6) battled to a 3-1 victory over Stillman College with a two-run eighth inning in this afternoon’s opener before again utilizing the international tie-breaking run in the eighth inning to earn the sweep with a 2-1 win here in the nightcap.

Caitlin Perry (2-1) allowed just a single earned run on four hits while striking out nine batters to claim the opening victory in a complete game performance.

Tori Davis (1-2) clinched her first win of the season while also pitching a complete game in the second event. The junior gave up no earned runs and just three hits while striking out six at the plate.

Leadoff hitter Hannahlee Harris was 5-for-8 on the day with an RBI and a run.

Alicia Richardson was 3-for-4 in the second game and Bailee Trotter was 2-for-4 with an RBI in the opener.

Faulkner will next enter the Gulf Coast Invitational in Gulf Shores next weekend. The Lady Eagles open the three-day event against Concordia University (Mich.) at 9 a.m. on Friday.
