Statistics released by the state on Friday say the jobless rate has increased from 5.9% to 6.5% since December.

This means that the Alabama jobless rate is now almost 2% higher than the national average of  4.7%

Shelby county has the lowest unemployment rate in the state at 4.3%, while Wilcox County has the highest unemployment rate in the state at a staggering 15.6%
