Mayor Todd Strange will be meeting with the Alabama State Department of Education, and the Montgomery County Board of Education over the next eight days. They will be discussing a takeover of 23 schools that are currently under MPS jurisdiction.
This comes after the list of failing schools in the city has doubled, poor test results and reports of grades being changed unethically have increased drastically in the past few years.
When asked to comment, Mayor Todd Strange said: “There really has to something done to affect moving in a different direction. I don’t know what that is going to be, but I think it is going to happen sooner rather than later. I would expect something over the next couple of months. That really is a State Board of Education decision,”
